11th Workshop and Congress on Kangaroo Mother Care 2016

The 11^th Workshop and Congress on Kangaroo Mother Care is organized by the International Network in Kangaroo Mother Care (INK) and the WHO Collaborating Centre on Maternal and Child Health with the support of IAP for Health. The event will be held under the theme 'Kangaroo Mother Care: 20 years later in Trieste, Italy, on 14-15 and 16-17 November, respectively. Academies are being encouraged to find suitable experts to attend the events. The workshop will include about 50 participants representing active Kangaroo Mother Care research and development projects and programmes. The objective is to present, discuss in detail and share experiences that will hopefully lead to improved implementation in terms of both coverage and quality. The dates were chosen in such a way that the closing day will coincide with the World Prematurity Day, celebrated every year on November 17. The event will include:

• A workshop on 14 and 15 November, for about 50 participants representing active KMC research and development projects and programmes in as many countries as possible. The objective is to present, discuss in detail and share, experiences that will hopefully lead to improved implementation in terms of both coverage and quality, using an equity lens.

• A congress on 16 and 17 November, which we expect will be attended by about 300 participants. The Scientific Committee will identify a limited number of themes (4-6) and will invite speakers and discussants for keynote and other presentations for each theme. There will also be a call for posters and, among the accepted ones, the Scientific Committee will select some for oral presentation.
