The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) is an observer organization to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). We have therefore been invited to encourage additional experts to participate as Expert Reviewers for the Working Group III contribution to the second-order draft (SOD) of the IPCC's Sixth Assessment Report (AR6): 'Climate Change 2021: Mitigation of Climate Change' (please note that such experts provide reviews under their own name and do not represent the observer organization).
The review of the Working Group III AR6 SOD, undertaken by both governments and experts, will take place from 18 January 2021 to 14 March 2021. The review is a key element of the IPCC assessment process and helps ensure that the eventual report provides a balanced and comprehensive assessment of the latest scientific findings. The review process will follow standard IPCC procedures, which state that the process shall be objective, open and transparent, with a wide circulation that aims to involve as many independent experts as possible in the IPCC process, seeking a range of views, expertise, and geographical representation.
An online registration process has been prepared and is open for prospective expert reviewers via the IPCC web site.
Registration will close on 7 March 2021, 23:59 (GMT+1), one week before the end of the review period: Experts interested in reviewing the document can register directly with IPCC at: https://apps.ipcc.ch/comments/ar6wg3/sod/register.php.
