Considering the extraordinary situation caused by the novel Coronavirus and given the role that the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) can play in strengthening the knowledge base on biodiversity links of current and future pandemics such as COVID-19, IPBES had organized a virtual Platform workshop on the link between biodiversity and pandemics, from 27-31 July 2020.
The full workshop reportis now available in a laid-out format at https://ipbes.net/pandemics, and is composed of an executive summary, five sections, references and annexes (a non-laid out version of the report had been released on 29 October 2020).
"The workshop report mainly supports the scoping of the nexus assessment, while other ongoingscoping processes and assessments may be informed by the workshop report where relevant andappropriate" explains Anne Larigauderie, IPBES Executive Secretary.
"In line with the procedures for Platform workshops, it contains a prominent disclaimer that the workshop report and any recommendations or conclusions contained therein have not been reviewed, endorsed or approved by the IPBES Plenary" she added.
