The Academy of Sciences Malaysia as a learned body of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) experts in the nation, performs an unparalleled public service by bringing together experts in all areas of scientific and technological endeavour to address critical national issues relating to science, engineering and technology and provide strategic input to the government and the public.
The Academy also extends its expertise and advisory services to various STI stakeholders ranging from government, ministries and agencies, institutions of higher learning, research institutes, industry as well as international STI organisations.
The Academy of Sciences Malaysia was established under the Academy of Sciences Malaysia Act 1994 which came into force on 1 February 1995. It was officially inaugurated by the former Prime Minister, YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on 8 September 1995.
