To promote cooperation between the academies of science and letters, and to enhance their national and international influence, the Council of Finnish Academies was founded in 1975.
The Council of Finnish Academies operates both nationally and internationally to promote high quality research in all fields of the sciences and the humanities. Its areas of concern include science policy, the production of research-based expert reports and statements, research assessments and awards as well as science communication in the wider society.
