DESCRIPTION OF INVOLVEMENT IN THE ACADEMY'S ACTIVITIES OR IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS:
Dr. Anurag Agrawal has demonstrated sustained engagement with national academies and international science bodies beyond his academic achievements. At INSA, he has been a valuable member of committees and policy writing. He will take over as Vice President policy next year. In India, he has served on the Governing Councils of national bodies such as ICMR and CSIR, and on high-level advisory boards of the Department of Biotechnology and NITI Aayog, helping shape national health and bioscience strategies. He is a Fellow of all major Indian science academies and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). Internationally, he chaired the WHO Technical Advisory Group on SARS-CoV-2 Viral Evolution and co-chaired the Lancet–Financial Times Commission on Governing Health Futures 2030. He serves on the Leadership Committee of the WHO Pandemic Hub’s International Pathogen Surveillance Network and the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI). These roles highlight his contributions to global health governance, digital transformation, and science-informed policy. He brings a collaborative, cross-sectoral approach to academy-led initiatives, promoting inclusive and equitable science. His leadership in multilateral forums and inter-academy projects exemplifies a deep commitment to international cooperation and the responsible use of science and technology in service of public good.
