He plays key roles in the WAAS Offensive Peace Initiative, promoting diplomacy as a path to lasting peace. As a strong advocate for science diplomacy, Bandov works to strengthen the academic voice in policy and public engagement. He is passionate about science communication, demonstrated through his over one thousand media appearances and public presentations across South East Europe and abroad in recent years.
EVIDENCE OF PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES IN AN IAP,NATIONAL ACADEMY OR OTHER SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATION'S GOVERNING BODY
Goran Bandov actively participated in The Triennial Conference of the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) and the Worldwide Meeting of the Young Academies, in Biosphera 2, Arizona in November 2022 as a representative of the Global Young Academy. During the event, he participated in the discussion on the future relationship between IAP and the young academies in order to enable a more active role of younger scientists in solving contemporary global challenges. In the same year, the IAP General Assembly elected Bandov as a member of the IAP Science Policy Advice Program Committee (2022–2025). Within this role, Bandov strongly advocated for a more protected position of the world's younger scientists, their deeper integration into academic life, as well as intergenerational dialogue within the scientific community. At the same time, he actively advocated for a stronger contribution of the academic community to the advocacy of diplomatic solutions to secure long-term sustainable peace.
