DESCRIPTION OF INVOLVEMENT IN THE ACADEMY'S ACTIVITIES OR IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS:
Dr. Chan Siok Yee is an agile young scientist. She has been part of a co-PI for global research challenge fund under the global research translational award where she worked with UEA, UK, Brazil, Thailand, Jordan. This has exemplified her experiences in handling global funding for the execution of impactful translational research. She has also been working with various pharmaceutical industry, particularly the local company in clinical trials, product development and commercialization. At capacity building, Dr Chan has been actively engaged in both the Global Young Academy (GYA) and her national young academy, Young Scientists Network Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM). In YSN-ASM, Dr. Chan chaired the Science Leadership WG from 2021-2023, where she led efforts to nurture leadership skills which has granted her a few grants in this aspect. At GYA, Dr. Chan serves as an Executive Committee holding the portfolio of activity working groups and actively contributed to the Science Education Working Group. She is deeply involved in the planning and execution of GYA restructuring, promotion and global education initiatives. Her ability to build strategic partnerships is evident from her success in bringing GYA in as a strategic partner for the 2023 KEMBARA Sains Borneo outreach program, supporting international facilitator participation and conducted an impactful workshop to inspire rural students through science. She has been recently elected co-chair of GYA in the current term
