DESCRIPTION OF INVOLVEMENT IN THE ACADEMY'S ACTIVITIES OR IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS:
Annette Grüters-Kieslich is a paediatrician. She researches the molecular development of rare diseases and the development and treatment of rare forms of obesity in children. In her latest work, she is looking for genes that are important in developmental biology and their epigenetic regulation. Another area of work in this context is G-protein coupled receptors. She is a member of Leopoldina, German Academie of Science, and a member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and a member and international delegate of the Union of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities as well as vicepresident of ALLEA. She is a respected and admired scientist and representative of German science and would speak with the confidence of German and European scientific academia. All Presidents of the German Academies of Sciences and Humanities strongly support her nomination to the IAP Board.
