DESCRIPTION OF INVOLVEMENT IN THE ACADEMY'S ACTIVITIES OR IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS:
Dr. Ranieri Guerra plays a pivotal role within the Accademia Nazionale di Medicina as a senior member committed to advancing interdisciplinary dialogue, evidence-based policy, and scientific integrity. He actively contributes to the Academy’s strategic direction by bridging his extensive international experience with national public health priorities. Dr. Guerra has led and co-authored key position papers on the integration of artificial intelligence in medicine, digital therapeutics, and ethical frameworks for innovation in healthcare. He has helped shape the Academy’s educational programs, promoting cross-sectoral approaches that include public health, clinical research, and systems thinking. Known for fostering collaboration among physicians, economists, and digital experts, he ensures the Academy remains at the forefront of health policy and research. His interventions are marked by clarity, vision, and an ability to translate complexity into actionable guidance. Within the Academy, he also mentors young professionals and promotes a culture of transparency, scientific rigor, and future-oriented thinking. Dr. Guerra’s presence reinforces the Academy’s mission to serve as a bridge between science and society, especially in a time of rapid technological and global transformation. His leadership exemplifies a unique synthesis of diplomacy, science, and ethical responsibility in service of better health outcomes.


EVIDENCE OF PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES IN AN IAP, NATIONAL ACADEMY OR OTHER SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATION'S GOVERNING BODY:
Dr. Guerra is a physician, public health expert and global health leader, supporting the Italian Accademia di Medicina international work. He has held top roles nationally and internationally: CMO of Italy, Research Director at ISS, and ADG at WHO, where he shaped policies on AMR, One Health, UHC. At ISS, he introduced open science and interdisciplinary research hubs. At WHO, he integrated science into global diplomacy and supported Italy during COVID-19. He has also served as Scientific Attaché at the Italian Embassy in Washington, D.C. He contributes to European research as FEAM Vice-president, leading its research section. Dr. Guerra has also served in the IAP Capacity Building Committee. As an advisor to CREMS, AGM Consulting and SIGERIS, he links health economics, digital innovation, and patient safety. His work with digital twins and risk management in health is critical. A scientific diplomat and mentor, he bridges research, ethics, and implementation for future generations.
