Biography

In 2015, Haris obtained his MD in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, as top of his class. He received acknowledgments for curricular and extracurricular activities, both in his country and abroad. He was actively involved in the student movement for societal changes in Macedonia. In addition, he fought for the rights of medical students, young doctors, and patients with rare diseases.
As an Eraweb scholar, Haris received an MSc in Epidemiology degree at Ludwig-Maximilian’s University of Munich, in 2017. His research interest are cancer, neurological and rare diseases. His aim is to combine basic and clinical research approach in these diseases, with focus on diagnostics and therapeutics.
Currently, Haris is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie early-stage research fellow at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, pursuing a translational PhD project. He is using proteomics and proteogenomics to dissect glioblastoma on a molecular level. When not in the lab, he enjoys travelling, intercultural exchange, theatre, and classical music. Haris is passionate about medical education and the need to change the approach to medical students in order to train satisfied and fullfilled professionals.
