I am an Industrial Engineer with Diploma in Electrical Engineering. In 2010 I received a PhD in Physics from Harvard University and since then I am an Assistant professor at the Physics Department of Pontificia Universidad catolica, Chile. My research consists on theoretical and experimental studies of quantum mechanics to create novel applications in metrology. In one of our research areas we work with high sensitivity and high spatial resolution sensors capable of detecting structures with nanometric resolution. We are interested in multidisciplinary investigations with biologists, engineers and physicians. In September 2011, I attended the IAP Young Scientist Conference held in conjunction with the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting of New Champions in the city of Dalian, China. It was a unique experience aimed to coherently integrate recent developments in social, economical and technological sciences to find innovative solutions to our worldwide problems. The meeting was an example of effective exchange of ideas among people with highly contrasted worlds. A practice that might lead to common understanding and that is worth to carry out in our own fields.
