DESCRIPTION OF INVOLVEMENT IN THE ACADEMY'S ACTIVITIES OR IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS:
Prof. Dr Haseena Khan, Secretary of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences for two terms (each of three years) will successfully complete her second term in June 30, 2025. During this period she has taken the Academy to greater heights with regard to its activity, its connection with the young scientific minds, the policy makers of the country and international science organizations.
A number of conferences and workshops arranged during this period on important issues, like plastic pollution led to round table conferences with the media and recommendations from the different deliberations have been sent to the government for implementation.
She also successfully organized a number of young scientist congresses and Science Olympiads which have proven to be successful in inspiring and igniting the passion for science among the bright young minds especially in the backdrop that most students are shying away from science.
She has been instrumental in setting up strong international liaison of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences with IAP, ISC, TWAS, AASSA, INSA etc.
She is an elected Fellow of TWAS and ISC.
