DESCRIPTION OF INVOLVEMENT IN THE ACADEMY'S ACTIVITIES OR IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS:
The Science Council of Japan (SCJ) is pleased to nominate Professor ODANAKA Naoki, a professor of the history of social thoughts, to membership of the Communications Education and Outreach Development and Programme Committee.
SCJ shares the values of the IAP and joined the former IAP in 1996, shortly after its establishment. Ever since, SCJ has contributed to various activities of the IAP. In the past years, SCJ had served as a member of the IAP-Policy Board and dispatched many distinguished Japanese scientists to IAP working groups. Moreover, Professor HIBIYA Junko, Vice-President of SCJ, is currently a member of the same committee. With this background and expectation to reinforce the SCJ’s engagement with IAP’s mission, I recommend Professor ODANAKA as a new member of the IAP networks.
As a member of the SCJ, he has made significant contributions to the activities of International Committee of Historical Sciences as well as those of the Association of Asian Social Science Research Councils. He also vigorously participates in the overall management of the SCJ as an Executive Board member.
Professor ODANAKA has demonstrated superlative academic, social and administrative achievements in his wide range of activities in various significant contexts. His management capability is seamless. SCJ earnestly believes that he will contribute greatly to the IAP as a member of the Committee.
