Is the Executive Officer of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) and Emeritus Professor and Honorary Senior Research Associate at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban.
She is a Member of ASSAf and is recognized for her research contributions in the field of atmospheric sciences, particularly air quality and tropospheric ozone. She chairs the Editorial Board of the South African Journal of Science, and serves on the Editorial boards of the South African Geographic Journal, and Atmospheric Environment.
Prof Diab has been a Fulbright senior research scholar, and has served as a member of a number of international commissions, including the Commission on Atmospheric Chemistry and Global Pollution (CACGP), the International Ozone Commission (IOC) and the Scientific Steering Committee of Stratospheric Ozone Processes and their Role in Climate (SPARC).
She is a fellow of the South African Geographical Society and of the University of Natal. Dr. Diab has a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville (USA).
