Seif Abdallah Shekalaghe
SHEKALAGHE, Saif Abdallah (Tanzania)
Recently joined Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) working as a senior research scientist and also serves as the deputy branch leader of Bagamoyo site.
He has obtained a degree of doctor of medicine (MD) at Tumaini University, KCM College, Tanzania and thereafter obtained an MPH at the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom. He holds a PhD on malaria transmission, awarded by Radboud University, Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
He has extensively worked in the area of malaria transmission by conducting epidemiological and intervention studies (including mass drug administration (MDA) using different antimalarials drugs) that aimed at identifying strategies to interrupt malaria transmission and has published over 10 papers on these topics.
Academically, he has experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He is a lecturer with Tumaini University KCM College teaching epidemiology, Research methodology and community health subjects. He has experience with course coordination and has recently developed a new curriculum for a master course in epidemiology and applied biostatistics with other colleagues at KCM College. He has supervised more than 10 students on their dissertations.
