DESCRIPTION OF INVOLVEMENT IN THE ACADEMY'S ACTIVITIES OR IN INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS:
Stella Tsani is an excellent candidate for the IAP Policy Advice Committee, bringing a strong record of international engagement, science-policy interface work, and societal impact. She co-leads the GYA & SDGs group, actively promoting inclusive, interdisciplinary dialogue on sustainability and engagement in global policy. Winner of the 2025 European Union Woman in Energy Award for science-policy-society action with impactful young researchers’ inclusion. Her track record reflects deep and sustained involvement in high-level international advisory processes. She is a Lead Author of UNEP’s Global Environment Outlook (GEO-7), contributing to global environmental assessment and policy guidance. She has served as an expert at the IPCC AR7 Scoping Meeting, and provides input to key EU initiatives such as the Cohesion for Transitions (C4T) Community of Practice and the Just Transition Platform. Stella is also part of strategic international foresight and advisory groups, including the MED2050 initiative, UNEP/MAP’s Working Group on Ocean Economy and Sustainable Finance, and the ISC delegation to the UN2023 Water Conference. Her role across these platforms highlights her commitment to equity, intergenerational& interdisciplinary inclusion, and actionable policy grounded in scientific knowledge. With experience in diverse regional and global initiatives, Stella is well-positioned to support IAP’s mission through inclusive, forward-looking, and impactful science-policy engagement.

Stella Tsani has co-led the GYA’s working group on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Furthermore, she has represented the GYA on the European Young Academies Science Advice Structure (YASAS).
