Wejdan Abu Alhija
Adviser to the President For Academic Affairs, Royal Scientific Society of Jordan (RSS)
Wejdan Abu-Elhaija is a professor of Electrical Engineering / Electrical Machines. She is currently Advisor to HRH, President of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) for Academic Affairs. She held a number of university administrative positions, including the position of university Vice President in 2016. In 2011, she became the first Dean of Engineering in Jordan when she was appointed Dean of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering at Princess Sumaya University of Technology (PSUT). She received her PhD in Electrical Engineering from Queen's University of Belfast, UK. She won many awards for her work, including Hisham Adeeb Hijjawi Applied Science Award in 2004, the King Abdullah II Design and Development Bureau Award for Best Design Model in 2008 and the Jordan University Center for Women's Studies Award in 2007. In 2007, she became president assistant for quality assurance and head of the electronics engineering department in 2009.
In 2012 she received the IEEE Clementine Saduwa award by the region 8 sections in recognition of her outstanding contribution to Engineering and IT. In 2012, she was granted the US State Department’s Women in Science Hall of Fame award. In early 2013, she was awarded a Doctor of Science in Engineering (DSc) [honoris causa] degree for her outstanding services to engineering by the Senate of Queen’s University Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK. She was chosen to represent IEEE international society as an ABET Evaluator in 2020. Her research work is published in highly indexed journals.
