The National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Philippines, was created in 1976 to recognize outstanding achievements in science and technology and to serve as a reservoir of competent scientific and technological manpower for the country.
In 1982 the Academy became the advisory body to the President of the Republic of the Philippines on policies concerning science and technology. Current membership is 51 academicians, grouped into the following divisions: Agricultural Sciences; Biological Sciences; Chemical, Mathematical, and Physical Sciences; Engineering Sciences and Technology; Health Sciences; Social Sciences.
