Biography

I graduated with an MBBS from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan in 2000. I completed residency training in Internal Medicine,with subspecialty in Endocrinology, in 2010 after passing the fellowship examinations of the West African College of Physicians & the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria. During my residency training at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria, I was considered to be outstanding and on account of this, I was presented with the ëBest Resident of the Year in Medicineí award in 2007. I was later appointed Chief resident at the Department of Medicine, a position I held till the completion of the training programme.
I am a member of several professional societies including the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the Endocrine and Metabolism Society of Nigeria and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes.
I regularly present findings from my research work at scientific conferences. In 2010, I received the ëBest posterí award at the Annual Conference of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and then awarded a travel grant by the association the following year. I am currently an Associate lecturer to the College of Medicine of the University of Ibadan and a Consultant Physician & Endocrinologist to the University College Hospital, Ibadan. My responsibilities include the conduct of clinical research, the training and the supervision of medical students and resident doctors, the coordination of undergraduate and postgraduate examinations, and the management of in- & outpatients with Diabetes mellitus and other endocrine disorders.
My areas of special interest include the aetiology & the complications of Diabetes mellitus, Gestational Diabetes mellitus and Neuroendocriniology. I have been involved in collaborative research with various specialists from within and outside the Department of Medicine of the University College Hospital with a number of publications resulting from these activities.
