Biography
Konstantin Luzyanin (born in Russian Federation, studied Chemistry at St. Petersburg State University (1997–2002), where he obtained his Diploma with Distinction. Konstantin got his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from Technical University of Lisbon (under joint supervision by Profs. A.J.L. Pombeiro and V.Yu. Kukushkin) in 2007. After postdoctoral studies in organometallic chemistry with Prof. A.J.L. Pombeiro (Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon), Konstantin won a position as the Research Associate (Ciência-2008 program) at the Centro de Química Estrutural – a research center at IST. In addition, he was appointed as the Manager of IST-UTL Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Center of the Portuguese NMR Network in 2009. Konstantin´s current research interests include transition metals chemistry, in particular of platinum group elements, and metal-mediated synthesis and catalysis. He is a co-author of ca. 45 publications (33 are in international refereed journals, and 4 patents), and more than 40 papers in conference proceedings. In the course of last years, he co-supervised several research grantees, M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. A lot of new ideas, in particular, regarding how the science should be integrated into society, and what should be the ways for interacting between scientists of different fields, an were acquired. Currently, Konstantin serves as a Member of the Directive Board of the Portuguese Association of Researchers in Science and Technology (ANICT, WEB: www.anict.pt), and organizes annual National Training Site on Modern Methods of Structure Elucidation 2011 (WEB: cqe.ist.utl.pt/events/mmse2011/) intended for students and industry researchers.
