Biography

<p>&lt;p&gt;Dr. Mary Ashinyo is a Public Health Physician specialized in Health Policy and Systems Management with over ten&amp;nbsp;years working experience in the area of Health Systems Strengthening, and a healthcare quality&amp;nbsp;expert employed as Deputy Director responsible for Quality and Safety at the Ghana Health Service, the largest implementing agency of the Ministry of Health, responsible for the provision of over 80% of country&amp;rsquo;s healthcare services. Her current work involves working with development partners, health managers, patients and communities to ensure that healthcare services in Ghana meet acceptable international and local standards of quality and safety towards achieving Quality Universal Health Coverage.&amp;nbsp;Previously Dr. Ashinyo worked as a Medical Director of the Ghana Health Service in a district type hospital where she was the administrative and clinical lead for over seven years.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Dr. Ashinyo is an advocate on several social issues including patients&amp;#39; rights, drug policy reforms, health in prisons, youth development, women empowerment and any theme that affects the health of the general population. Mary holds a Membership in Public Health from the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, diploma of advanced studies in international health from the Swiss Tropical Institute of Public Health, Basel Switzerland, a Master of Public Health from the School of Public Health, University of Ghana, a certificate of health administration and management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration, and a certificate in public management from Howard University, Washington D.C. She is a fellow of the International Society for Quality in Healthcare, ISQua.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;Mary is also a 2015&amp;nbsp;Mandela Washington Fellow, 2016 YPL fellow and a 2017 Women Leaders in Global Health Fellow. She lives in Accra, Ghana and in her free time she goes for a walk with her family and friends or watches cartoons.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</p>
