Maria Eliza Raymundo
Dr. Eliza Raymundo obtained her BS and MD degrees through the Integrated Liberal Arts and Medicine program of the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. She completed her residency training in urologic surgery at the Philippine General Hospital. Upon graduation from this program, she was chosen as an International Scholar of Surgery of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, allowing her to spend 18 months at the Center for Prostate Disease Research in Maryland USA as a post-doctoral fellow. She then became the Gyrus-ACMI Fellow for Endourology at the Duke University Medical Center through a grant from the Endourological Society. Dr. Raymundo returned to the Philippines in 2010 and joined the faculty of the University of the Philippines Manila in 2011. She is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, where she chairs the Research Management committee of the National Institutes of Health, and a Clinical Associate Professor of the Philippine General Hospital's Department of Surgery. Likewise, she is cross-appointed as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. She is an active member of the Philippine Urological Association, fellow of the Philippine College of Surgeons, and a board-certified urologic surgeon practicing in Manila. She has multiple publications in local and international scientific journals, focusing on her research interests that include prostate cancer, urologic infectious diseases, and translational research for urologic oncology. In 2014, Dr. Raymundo was chosen as an International Guest Scholar of the American College of Surgeons.
